## Team TKHQRI 11/11 Meeting
Agenda
* Airport Project Updates
* Publishing datasets on Qri
* Look ahead to 'Phase II' projects (next 8 weeks)
* Replicate NYC Open Data
* SDG Data Aggregation
* Large Charitable Foundations
Notes:
-- --
Mika: Didn't realize how important these codes were.
Amanda: I mainly collected questions I'd like to answer
Lamine: Some Airports are closed, Some are open. I built a dataset
* found a listing airports by Country, with a source I could scrape
* I was more concerned about how we actually go about gathering the info
Duja: I found ready datasets we can trust enough
* The most impressive one is updated on a regular basis (ourairports.com - open license, we're cool to download from ourairports and upload to qri.)
* Also found a guy on github with airport codes info
* Also found a few with API support (looking forward to learning more on how to get data via API)
* flightradar24.com needs to be scraped
Please share your notes from your work (and URLs to datasets, etc) in any format you like, but try to drop it into the #tkh_dataprojects channel on discord (https://discord.gg/qwAd6Tr)
**B5**:
* Anyone come across airport code changes?
* Mika: Yes, or how IATA ()
* Key step in building a dataset is choosing an identifier (unique, need to know if it changes, need to track that change). "Can the same airport change its code" is key for us to understand if we're going to choose that as an identifier.
* So: ICO enforces uniqueness, IATA does not (confirm?), but ICO is incompete...?
Why steer away from APIs?:
* Becomes 'freemium' really quickly. need to learn API, pull, and put into tabular form.(Scraping is basically building our own API).
1. Open Data
2. Use APIs
3. Scrape
Bren will: Share an API with great documentation to share with the group.
**Phase II:**
NYC Open Data
