**Title:** How to create Magic in the Ethereum Ecosystem (this was edited to the second one)
**Ethereum Magicians: How to contribute to EIPs and improve Ethereum**
---
Before I start talking about technical stuff, I would like to beggin with a little bit of history to understand the concept of Fellowship of Ethereum Magicians.
- There's a story about hacker activist started by John Gilmore
- This movement kicked off with an email message to a Cypherpunk mailing list
- This mailing list was started in 1992 and in 1994 has around 700 active subscribers which turned into active forum with technical discussion ranging over mathematics, cryptography, computer science, political and philosophical discussion, personal arguments and attacks, etc., and of course with some spam thrown in.
- This email was more like an open letter that you could forward to anyone and invite to join the meeting
- This meeting was very open, community driven, there wasn't exact agenda and there was played crypto-anarchy game
- Greg Colvin liked the idea with mailing list as cyberpunks were using and the meetings they used to have
- But wanted to keep it more open to everyone and not keep the idea just as email communication
- The Fellowship of Ethereum Magicians was founfed to solve technical problems of offline and online coordination that come up from cypherpunk coulture that was mixed with open sourc, economy crash with interweb memes and reddit coulture
- FEM started an open forum on Discourse that solved a lot of problems that for example GitHub couldn’t solve
- FEM is a community of individuals with a common goal with a vision and principals for this group
- Ethereum Magicians started back in the beginning of 2018, forum started in March 2018
