## Play time
I can't stress this enough: *Don't play in sessions less than 1 hour if you want to improve.* Ideally you should warm up for 1 hour, after which you will start improving. You definitely want to take small breaks occasionally, 5 minutes at most.
## Reading
Reading has 3 forms:
- **Fast Reading**
Reading done by fast objects in the person perspective
- **Slow Reading**
Reading done by waiting objects that go too slow in the person perspective this reading helps with accuracy.
- **Complex Reading**
Reading done by many objects in the person perspective
## Finger Control
Finger control is an extremely important aspect of the game and is also the most difficult to master. However, there is a very effective way to improve finger control quickly:
We all know the brain has long term and short term memory. In osu!, warmups serve the purpose of making your short term memory improve your skill up to a certain point. They won't normally make your long term memory improve much, however, it is absolutely necessary to warm up every time before playing osu!. In order to design an optimal warmup routine, you have to factor in [cognitive load](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_load). The end result should be a warmup routine that gives you the most speeds possible (ar-od-cs-bpm).
- 5 4.5* (HT) **make sure these are lower than 140 bpm (without HT)**
- 5 4.5* (EZ)
- 5 4.5*
- 5 4.5(HR)
- 5 4.5*(DT)
The same can be done with practice, only raise the star ratings to the ones you are targetting, however be sure to go from low bpm to high, and low AR to high as well.
### Choose A Style
- Singletapping
- Alternating
But practice both, some maps are impossible to singletap!
## Coordination
Keeping your hands coordinated while playing is really important! Try some of these techniques to do so:
- Do very slow bpm maps / easy maps
- Write in the keyboard at typeracer
- Do some excercise
- Meditate
## Aim
- Play a lot of maps and then play the same maps at different speeds
- Dt once hr once and then both if you can get at least 50% acc on the highest ar you can play
- Try to play once a while a map stupidly fast that you can barely follow with the cursor to make your muscles of the arm react faster
- Once you reach a point where your mouse/pen moves like part of your body, try to learn moving it without a concious effort
## Streaming
Practice it like a workout (because it kinda is one)
1. play a map till your forearm muscles feel sore
2. Take 2 minute breaks
3. Repeat 4 times
4. **don't do any intensive arm activities until your arms have recovered (1-4 days)**
If you can easily stream the map 4 times, raise the BPM
### How to clean your mind to play osu
- Solve any problem that you have so you dont think about it while playing
- Meditate.
## How to win skill
- Play a lot of maps of any difficulty that you can get 85% or more till you get 98% acc
- **__DO NOT PLAY THE SAME MAP MORE THAN 3 TIMES IN A ROW__**
- Play a lot of different kinds of maps
## How to win consistency
- Play a lot of long maps
- Concentrate as much as you can and keep yourself focused on the map
## Warmups
Warmups are very important. Don't 'dive right in', as you'll probably suck. Play a few maps that focus on **one** the following:
- Reading
- Play maps from lowest to highest AR you can read
- Tapping
- Streams and low BPM
- Aim
- Go from low to high speed
## Avoiding injury
No matter how dedicated you are to improving in osu!, it's important to **remember when to stop**. Too much intense gameplay will lead to injury, which will only set you back. If your hand hurts from stream practice, **don't do stream or endurance practice for the next 4 days**. Do something like finger control or complex reading practice in the meantime.
