# Bitcoin Design Community Call #9 _January 6, 2021_ [Issue](https://github.com/BitcoinDesign/Meta/issues/56) ## Catching up - [Latest newsletter](https://bitcoindesign.substack.com/p/bitcoin-design-update-4) ## Goals for 2021 Ideas by [Steve](https://bitcoindesign.slack.com/archives/C014J9ZKXB4/p1609913982446600) - Long-term vision - The creative community and the design guide are well-known and respected within the bitcoin ecosystem - ultimately commanding a respect and contributing value on par with developers - Creatives are funded by many entities similar to developers today - The guide is used by many projects, designers, developers and leads to higher quality bitcoin applications - User research is reflected in the guide - The community attracts talented creatives and helps them become productive quickly - The design guide is integrated with emerging bitcoin SDKs (BDK, LDK, Photon) - Perhaps one day each of these SDKs would merge into a single code base - 2021 - The most important goal for 2021 is to get at least one user of the guide - an actual wallet project that uses the guide, in particular the private key section. That process will undoubtedly improve the guide substantially and will prove to ourselves and the broader ecosystem we've created something of value that deserves to be taken seriously. - What are the expectations for users of the guide? - Identify a "public launch" moment in which the community becomes more public-facing, has a Twitter account, promotes the website and guide, etc. Other ideas - What else...? - improve upon education through clear and simple design. feels like the faster bitcoin moves to mainstream the more misinformation seems to be available. think designers could greatly improve the quality of information available to curious individuals and/or businesses. - what kinds of design, exactly, would be most helpful for developers? do they value product, interaction, or something else the most? how can we help each other in a more natural way? a more connected approach would make sense. Discussion - How to measure 'usage' of the guide? (create a support channel, promote the guide, ask for projects to get free design support) - How to get engagement from existing wallets? (get feedback on what they are currently struggling with, likely more advanced issues) ## FOSDEM talk - [Issue](https://github.com/BitcoinDesign/Meta/issues/58) - A [conference](https://fosdem.org/2021/schedule/) about open-source on Feb 6 & 7 - Video needs to be recorded and uploaded by Jan 13 - We have 20 minutes, 15 minutes for the talk, 5 minutes for questions - rC3 talk - We **can** use this as a starting point - [Slides](https://www.figma.com/file/1VtKn5VJ13E1RdMGLkiiXZ/rC3-slides?node-id=1%3A65) - [Video](https://youtu.be/XkdE31YE5rc) Interested - Paulo - Conor - Alexa - Patricia
