Sims are usually at least slightly wrong, but they are better than all other methods of knowledge generation as it relates to WoW. - I put quite some effort into maximizing the gear/talents of every spec but it's possible I left 1% on the table here or there. # Sim Parameters - Max iLvl Mythic BiS Gear. # Changes Since Last Video - No ingame changes, these are all sim/correlation-related. - It was found that Dire Beast spawns are underspawning in-game compared to what's expected. It took several very smart people (not me) a lot of hours and hard work to identify what we believe is the real in-game mechanics of Dire Beast spawns and their internal cooldown. It is still not clear though, because when things don't work how they say they work ingame, and there are so many variables and mechanics involved in Dire Beast spawns, it is very very difficult to just work it out. - There is no guarantee that even this implementation is the right one, it is just the best theory we have. Science! - The catalyst for this being investigated more closely was Anniecpt from the Chinese Hunter community reaching out about his belief that Dire Beast spawn rates were overestimated in sims to one or another degree. - This hurts Dark Ranger the most which relied heavily on Dark Hounds (aka juiced up Dire Beasts) to do good damage in sims. # Single-Target - SV has ~145K 1-min bursts, MM has ~210K 2-minute bursts, BM has ~120-130K 30-second bursts. Generally speaking, all else being equal, being bursty is better than being flat. On the other hand, you don't need or want EVERYONE in your raid to be bursty, but Hunter fills the burst niche much better than the "flat" niche. - MM has execute but it's not as strong as it was in the past. - Single-Target is only really relevant on Vorasius, and potentially L'ura Mythic. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rkmMwGTjZg.png) # 3-Target (Lightblinded Vanguard) + Funnel/Prio Damage - All specs get single-target damage benefits from the presence of additional targets. The damage done to your primary target is called "prio" damage or funnel damage. This is relevant for many fights in the raid. - 3-Target Sims also cover the Lightblinded Vanguard fight fairly well. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/rJvEvfasWx.png) # Non-Damage Things - In terms of Hero Talent tankiness, it's Dark Ranger >> Sentinel > Pack Leader. Survival is innately tankier than the other two specs with 6% built-in damage reduction. Otherwise, MM and BM are as good as equal. - In terms of mobility, obviously, Marksmanship will lose far more damage with excessive movement than Beast Mastery. How this impacts you will be a skill/practice thing. Well-played MM loses quite little from movement. # Mythic+ - "Efficiency" Ranking is what's important. It takes ST and AoE into account in equal measure. Lowest Dist% Efficiency is "best" for Mythic+. ST/AoE/Prio numbers self-explanatory. - Sims aren't perfect for Mythic+ but they're pretty good. Sims tend to underrate burst and chain pulling value (like Bullseye for MM). - Marksmanship and Beast Mastery are still very close, sims are not really going to be able to tell us what's better here, it is up for real life log data (which takes a while to build to good quality) to determine this for sure. Safe to say, they are close. - For BM Hero Talents, Dark Ranger still wins on top of being a lot tankier, but the gap is pretty small, with most of it being on pure single-target. Dark Ranger has a lot more to think about in terms of priorities. - While Trick Shots looks good for MM here, remember that on just 6T AoE, Hydra is more AoE than it while having the prio damage benefit.
