Awakening to Reality === This would be the one-page version of the guide. It has the benefit of being easily searchable, and still has a TOC on the left. Linking to headings within the document is a bit tricky. If the headings have long names, then the links become long (e.g., `#Stage-7-Presence-is-Spontaneously-Perfected`) and brittle: if you change the heading name, you have to change all links to it manually. There are a couple of workarounds: 1. Give headings short names and never change them. E.g., just "Stage 7" (and make its full name a subheading, like I've done in this document, except for Stage 1). This is only feasible for headings that will really almost never change, like the stages (and perhaps some of the appendices). 2. Don't link to things whose names might change or are easily searchable. Just refer to them by name. E.g., "See the section 'Vipassana'." or "See Stage 7." The reader can use their browser's search functionality and look for matches in the left pane. ## Introduction ## License ## Acknowledgements ## Disclaimer # Preface # The stages ## Stage 1: I AM ### What it's like [This is a link](#Inner-Chatter) [This is another](#Stage-7) ### How to get here #### Sub-sub-subsection (does not appear in TOC) ### Pitfalls ## Stage 2 ### I AM Everything ### What it's like ### How to get here ### Pitfalls ## Stage 3 ### Entering into Nothingness ## Stage 4 ### Presence as Mirror Bright Clarity ## Stage 5 ### No Mirror Reflecting (“Anatta / No-Self / Firstfold Emptiness”) ## Stage 6 ### The Nature of Presence is Empty (“Sunyata / Secondfold Emptiness”) ## Stage 7 ### Presence is Spontaneously Perfected # Appendices ## Vipassana ### John Tan’s Style ## Mindfulness of Breathing (Anapanasati) ## Common Issues in Meditation ### Inner Chatter ### Lethargy/Sleepiness
