# manga club: AQUA and ARIA ARIA is a favourite with fans of a niche genre in Japanese media: iyashi-kei (lit. healing type). Works in this genre are known to induce catharsis through the mundane, invoking an appreciation of everyday activities. A recurring theme is mono-no-aware (lit. the pathos of things). Best described as the realization of the impermanence of all things in life, the sadness and grief that comes with it, and the beauty of getting to witness the dazzling circus of life. ARIA manages to capture this in a sweet and relaxing way. ### discussion For now, discussions will take place on discord. There's no need to stay perfectly on-schedule but if anyone's interested I'll reserve some time on these dates to discuss and hang out in voice-chat.
