ADB and Fastboot

Enabling ADB on-device

To enable ADB on your Android device, first enable developer options.
To do that, head to your phone's "About Phone" page in the settings app, and hit the "Build Number" text about 10 times.
on MIUI you might have to hit "MIUI Version" instead.

Once you've done that, search for "ADB Debugging" or "USB Debugging", then enable it.

Now your device will ask whenever a PC with ADB installed and running connects if you want to allow a connection using ADB

Installing it on your PC/Mac

You can get ADB and Fastboot from Google's developer website here

From there, you can extract them anywhere you'd like, and use them in a Terminal or Powershell like so:
make sure your Terminal/Powershell is opened in the same folder as you extracted!

./adb <your command here>
./fastboot <your command here>

for example, this is how you pull a file (here an example image) from your phone, to your PC using ADB:

./adb pull /sdcard/Pictures/example.png/

as another example, here is how to erase user data using fastboot
(DONT RUN THIS BY ACCIDENT, YOU WILL LOOSE DATA):

./fastboot erase userdata
# or alternatively
./fastboot -w

FastbootD notice

Recent devices have introduced FastbootD
FastbootD is Fastboot in Data, meaning it can be modified (by the likes of Lineage Recovery for example)

You need to access FastbootD on affected devices before you can use Fastboot.
To do that, use this command:

fastboot reboot fastboot

Alternatively, you can enter Lineage Recovery (or anything based on it) and hit reboot to fastbootd
