# Enabling developer options
To continue in any of the other categories of this book, you will need to enable developer options first, as it houses a lot of the features we will need, like for example ADB.
## Default method to enable Developer Options:
1. Enter your device's settings app
2. Search for the "About Device" section
3. Try to find an entry called "Build Number"
4. Click it ~10 times
5. Congratulations! You should now have access to "Developer Options" or "Developer Settings" in your settings app
## MIUI (Xiaomi's default ROM)
1. Enter your device's settings app
2. Hit the "MIUI Version" section ~10 times
3. Congratulations! You should now have access to "Developer Options" at the bottom of your settings, (sometimes in "Additional Options")
From here, you can [Unlock your Bootloader](/HCVx0AhPQQilYunCRCAN3Q), or [enable ADB](/H-oceVCTRqauEh-SXJffzg) to debug applications and have device access over USB.
