**DAO Town Hall**

Proposals are the lifeblood of the Nouns ecosystem. That’s why we spend so much time discussing them, refining them, and gathering around various places (Discord, discourse, Twitter, direct messages, etc.) to talk about them.

In fact, it seems that we can discuss proposals just about anywhere, except for the place that it makes the most sense; where the vote takes place on Nouns.wtf.

If Nouns is a small town, then we see the various communication venues like this:
- Nouns.wtf is the parliament/congress where the officials get to vote.
- Discord is the city center where you get to see your colleagues each day and occasionally pass by others on the street to say 'hi'.
- Discourse is the coffee shop where people meet up to share ideas and talk about plans for the future.

The problem is that once proposals go on chain, there's not a common public forum for the community to voice their opinion while waiting for voting to begin and while voting is happening. Communication does continue to take place, but it’s fractured. Because of the vast array of options to chat, the best arguments for and against proposals won’t always rise to the top of each discussion.

Therefore, DAO Town Hall aims to be the town hall of NounsDAO. It's where the public gets to come and give their opinions on the proposals in question. The official voters can come in and voice their opinions as well and gather public sentiment before making their final voting decision.

It's the place where everyone can have their voice heard and they can upvote or downvote proposals, and just as importantly, they can upvote the best arguments on both sides to bring the most clarity to the issue quickly.

Version 1 of this tool will focus around reworking the DAO page on the main Nouns website. When proposals are first put on chain, during the waiting period, there will be an option for anyone with an Ethereum wallet to come in and make a comment on the given proposal. Those comments can then be upvoted or downvoted by the community as other people come in and join the conversation. We believe this will allow Nouners to gather sentiment quickly and add many new perspectives as they prepare for the upcoming vote.


When voting begins, Town Hall will also aggregate any comments by voters as they are made on chain. These will show up in the feed along with the public forum. This will incentivize early voting and comments from voters to give even more additional context and clarity.


We envision this tool becoming a standard across many different projects throughout the Nouniverse to create their own ‘town hall’ where voters and the public meet to share ideas, shape opinions, and gather consensus.

We are also looking to a future where this tool could be used as an aggregator for DAOs across the Nouniverse and beyond. Imagine a platform where you could subscribe to the DAOs that you were most interested in, and the new proposals would show up in a newsfeed on one website with the votes organized by urgency. Imagine getting a ‘newspaper’ in your inbox each morning that gave you the highlights of the proposals and the 3 most upvoted comments to help you stay current on developments. It’s an exciting prospect that could be incredibly powerful as these projects scale.

**Our Team:**

prsn - Harang (aka "prsn") leads marketing at SZNS. Outside of SZNS, he researches crypto marketing at MIT Sloan, School of Management, as a postdoctoral associate. He has a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania and has experience in software development.

okdunk - Duncan has been building in the ecosystem for 5 years, previously launched Ethereum Grants, assisted in the creation of Moloch DAO, created CollabLand, managed product during the launch of Maple Finance protocol, and since August 2021 have been working in the NFT space at SZNS.io.

heyMaya - Product Manager / Senior Product Designer with 15+ years of experience within high-growth startups, with an academic background in Art History and Studio Arts. Loves solving challenges, spotting patterns, and creating systems.

andrewladdusaw - The most doxxed person on the internet. Member of the Nouncil in good standing and lover of ideas. His goal is to make Web3 accessible to the masses through Nouns, and it's his pleasure to submit this to you today.
