Congratulations on being accepted into New Haven County Sheriff's Office Academy. You will now start your journey into becoming a fully fledged Deputy of the New Haven County Sheriff's Office. Cadets are not considered as actual employees of the department, despite holding their rank. Anyone who reaches the rank of Probationary deputy after meeting certain requirements will only then be considered as an employee of the department. ## Onboarding Tasks ### Group and Discord Access > You will have **24 hours** upon the acceptance results being released, to be in the New Haven County Sheriff's Office [Group](https://www.roblox.com/groups/14329054/N-w-H-v-n-C-unty-Sheriffs-Office#!/about) and [Discord](https://discord.gg/t9vtKXpNqd). Please rejoin the Discord to obtain entry after being accepted into the group. ### Callsigns and Team Access > You will be able to find your callsign in our [Academy Tracker](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xOp3pFJD0Bf9SjiQBsTfplMSXaOGcVDeOmmZvOmK2xA/edit?usp=sharing). You are to remain off team unless attending a course, field patrol or evaluation. Upon completing and passing your fundamental course and examination, you will be allowed on Desk Duty. Cadets who are on the `Acceleration Course`can begin Desk Duty once accepted into the group. ### New Haven County Sheriff's Office Agreement > You will have **24 hours** to sign this [agreement](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSflihcEAgkQPOaSfCpAdIWEy3pGleTmGtLpC1fkVXJGl7fsgA/viewform). Understand that any and all portions of any document or content in a private discord channel are confidential and shall not be distributed, facsimiled, videoed, or photographed. > Once you have signed the agreement, go to [#completion](https://discord.com/channels/753705242712997918/983506780137095168) and send the following message: `I have completed the NDA form.` > The [Academy Tracker](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xOp3pFJD0Bf9SjiQBsTfplMSXaOGcVDeOmmZvOmK2xA/edit?usp=sharing) will be updated by Training Command. ## Academy Schedule You will find the schedule for your intake located in [#training-announcements](https://discord.com/channels/753705242712997918/965976324315430912) during the onboarding process. #### Leaves of Absences We do not offer Leaves of Absences during the academy process. You are expected to be active and commited to your intake. However, we do grant extensions for certain curcimstances. #### Extensions Each scheduled deadline, including the end of the intake, can be extended by up to three (3) days for cadets with an approved extension request. Extensions must be approved by the Training Lieutenant. :::danger **Do not ask** Training Command for your academy status to be updated. We will update the [Academy Tracker](Hi) within twelve (12) hours of any event log being submitted. ::: ## Academy Withdrawl or Discharge **Withdrawing from Academy** If at any time you do not wish to continue with the academy, you must notify Training Command and **await approval** before leaving the New Haven County Sheriff's Office. This will be considered as a General Discharge on your internal record. Probationary Deputies are considered employees, therefore if you meet the Employment Discharge Policy, you will be eligable for a Honorable Discharge. **General Discharge from Academy** You can be discharged from the Sheriff's Office Academy by Training Command for the following: - Failure to pass a second Fundamental Examination submission with less than 85% score. - Failure to complete the Sheriff's Office Academy before a set deadline (including stage deadlines). --- ## Sheriff's Office Academy Pathways ### Basic Deputy Training Pathway **Fundamental Course ➞ Examination ➞ Field Training ➞ Evaluation ➞ Probation** This is for cadets who do not hold enough previous experience to meet the requirements for an accelerated course. ### Acceleration Training Pathway **Field Training ➞ Evaluation ➞ Probation** This is for Cadets who have transfered from another departtment and have suitable amount of past experience. We do not allow cadets to transfer from Basic Deputy Training to Acceleration Training pathway based off fundamental examination results. --- ## Sheriff's Office Academy Stages ### Fundamental Course This is a training session where you are taught about our Standard Operating procedures, field operations and other important information. ### Fundamental Examination This is an examination which tests you on the information which you learnt during the Fundamental Course and Law Enforcement Training Institute. :::warning You will be given **two attempts** to pass this exam, requiring 85% or above to pass. Resit does **not** require you to attend a fundamental course again, although it is recommended. ::: ### Field Training Patrol This is a patrol with any Field Training Officer or Instructor which allows you to get a chance to see what being on patrol in New Haven County is like, and allows you to build on your skills. This Field Training Patrol must go for at least 30 minutes and the Field Training Officer or Instructor must deem you fit to go ahead for your Field Evaluation. :::info There is unlimited attempts to pass this stage, as long as it's completed before the scheduled deadline found in [#Training-announcements](https://discord.com/channels/753705242712997918/965976324315430912). ::: ### Field Evaluation You will be evaluated on a stricter basis by a Training Division Instructor. It should be noted that there is expected to be some improvement from the Field Training Patrol, and due to the experience you should have gained during your brief time in New Haven County Sheriff's Office Academy, your conduct should be excellent. This Field Evaluation must go for at least 45 minutes and certain requirements must be graded and met throughout your evaluation. We do not disclose the requirements in full, but you must achieve at least one pursuit, one combat situation, one arrest, and one LOV formatted. :::info There is unlimited attempts to pass this stage, as long as it's completed before the scheduled deadline found in [#Training-announcements](https://discord.com/channels/753705242712997918/965976324315430912). ::: ### Probation Period This is a 7-day period where you will be free to patrol alone whilst adhering to the Standard Operating Procedure and Cadet Handbook. As a reminder, throughout this period you are still on Zero Tolerance, therefore ensure that you know what you are doing and adhere to our policies. You are not considered a Probationary Deputy until [#audit-log](https://discord.com/channels/753705242712997918/982910793161011251) reflects your probationary status by Training Command. The probationary period will conclude at `19:00 Eastern Standard Time` exactly seven (7) days from when the probationary status was issued. Upon your probationary period concluding, training command will promote and allocate you into a patrol squad. This will be reflected in [#audit-log](https://discord.com/channels/753705242712997918/982910793161011251). --- ## Cadet Regulations ### Uniform Regulations - All cadets and probationary deputies will be required to use the **Polo** option in the locker room. This is to signify to other officers and the general public that you are in the Academy. ### Equipment Regulations Cadets are **not allowed** in any form to dispense of the following equiptment. Dispensing said equipment from department storage can lead to diciplinary action being taken as part of the zero tolerance policy. Probationary deputies are extempt from this restriction. - Delino R21A Rifle - Hawthorn 500 Shotgun - 30 Round 5.56 Caliber Magazine - 12 Gauge Shotgun Shells ### Vehicle Regulations Cadets and probationary deputies are **only allowed** to spawn the following vehicles: - Sheriff Modern Crusader - Sheriff Classic Crusader - Sheriff Jackalope ### Desk Duty Regulations Acceleration Course Cadets or those who have passed their Fundamental Examination may go on the Sheriff's Office team. - You may not leave the Sheriff's Office Headquarters for any reason. - Tools may be dispensed, however they must not violate the equipment regulations. - Trespassers and those who commit crimes within the Sheriff's Office Headquarters can be arrested (you must have passed your Field Training Patrol) - you should not chase them outside of SOHQ vicinity though. - You may conduct Custodial Duties, but it is vital that you follow the Custodial Help Guide located in [#cadet-resources](https://discord.com/channels/753705242712997918/965976521992990784). :::info When carrying out desk duty, you must make Law Enforcement Officer's and other services aware that you are on desk duty. For example `SOA1, 10-8 Desk Duty.` You are able to patrol (must be paired, not solo) with any Field Training Officer or Instructor at any time as long as you remain with them. Training Command can allow you to patrol with normal deputies if deemed fit. ::: ### General Cadet Regulations - Cadets may **not** equipment off duty. All equipment must be placed into a **department vehicle**, followed by the vehicle despawned before leaving the team. - Cadets **cannot arrest** any suspect until they have passed their Field Trainnig Patrol. ## Conclusion We wish you the best of luck with the academy.
