Get in-game and wait in the parking lot. 2. Ensure that you are ready to begin, and then announce the training in [#Training-Announcements](https://discord.com/channels/753705242712997918/965976324315430912) with the format below. ``` :nhcso: **Basic Deputy Training - Fundamental Course** A Fundamental course is being hosted now. Join the game and make your way to SOHQ. Once you arrive, drive into the inside parking area. **Link:** [game link] **Start Time:** XX:XX @Cadet ``` 3. After giving the cadets around 15 minutes to join, announce that the training has commenced (no need to tag for this). ``` The Fundamental course has commenced, no further attendance will be allowed. ``` 4. Get the cadets onto the Sheriff's Office team, and instruct them to et a radio and no other tools. 5. Once all cadets are on team, take them upstairs to the briefing room - this is where you will remain for the majority of the training. 6. You can now make your way through the following curriculum. ## Introduction > Welcome to your Basic Deputy Training, the first stop on your journey to becoming a fully-fledged Deputy > This training will cover some basic department information, department policy, and your custodial & protections certification training. :::info - Introduce yourself & any co-hosts. State that you should be addressed as Instructor throughout the training. - Ask Cadets if they have any questions before you continue with the section. ::: ## Department Information >The New Haven County Sheriff's Office's main responsibility is to maintain law and order throughout the county. However, we are also responsible for many other things too. >Other responsibilities include managing the County Jail and ensuring it is kept safe and secure, protecting the courthouse when it is in session, and ensuring that warrants are executed where required. > After completing the academy, you will automatically be placed into 1 of 4 squads within the Patrol Division. > As a Deputy in the Patrol Division, you will be mainly tasked with patrolling wherever you are needed across the county. >It is recommended that you patrol in the areas with the least amount of active Law Enforcement, for example West Point or the desolate county roads. Despite this recommendation, you are free to patrol wherever you like! >During your time in the Sheriff's Office, you will get the opportunity to apply for different divisions. These include the Training Bureau, Criminal Investigations, Public Relations, Warrant Enforcement and Internal Affairs. :::info - You should now ask if anyone has any questions. Make sure to get a response of "Yes, Instructor" or "No, Instructor". ::: ## Academy Process > The Sheriff's Office Academy is designed to ensure that you can be fully confident to patrol the county alone by the time you finish it. > Stage 1 - Fundamental Course (this training) Stage 2 - Fundamental Examination Stage 3 - Field Training Patrol Stage 4 - Field Evaluation Stage 5 - Probation (one week) > Those who have an adequate amount of previous experience in Mayflower Law Enforcement have an acceleratwed academy process. >In order to find more information about the process, review the Cadet Handbook which is pinned in #training-announcements. :::info - Ask if the Cadets have any questions. ::: ## Standard Operating Procedures >The Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are the main departmental policies. These can be found in #important-links or #public-information. > All departmental policies must be followed at all times. It is vital that you read over them and ensure that you do not break them, or you risk disciplinary action. > You will be tested on parts of the SOP during your examination to ensure that you have read it. :::info - Ask if the Cadets have any questions. ::: ## Cadet Policies > As a Cadet, there will be some restrictions as to the uniforms/weapons that you can use and the times that you are allowed on team. > Cadets & Probationary Deputies are only allowed to use the polo uniform. > Cadets may not dispense longarms (R21A & H500) and respective ammunition, however once you become a Probationary Deputy, you may dispense and use these on-duty. > Once you have completed and passed the Fundamental Examination, you are allowed to go on team to conduct Desk Duty. > Desk Duty Regulations can be found in the cadet handbook. > All department policies must be followed - remember you are on zero-tolerance. > You will be able to find all the information and regulations in the cadet handbook. :::info - Ask if the Cadets have any questions. ::: ## Custodial Information > Another duty that you may want to complete is Custodial/Corrections Duties. This involves moving inmates around the County Jail and allowing visitors to enter the facility. > Movement of Inmates: > - All inmates must walk in single-file in the middle of the corridor. > - Inmates which are classed as "High Risk" or have been in solitary should be moved in handcuffs. > - There should be a 1:4 ratio - this means 1 CO can only move up to 4 inmates at a time. > Firearms are not permitted to be used while conducting Custodial duties. We will now have a tour of the Correctional Facility. :::info Move to the specified locations below, and give the notes for that specific room once you arrive. ::: >Dayroom: This is where prisoners spawn. You should check the offence they were arrested for, and if necessary move them to Range 1. >Range 1: This is where prisoners who are deemed "High Risk" (arrested for acts that have injured/threatened others) are moved to. > Recreational Yard: Access to the yard is only permitted during the day, and is a privileged area for well-behaved prisoners. >Range 2: Solitary Confinement is used for prisoners which fail to comply with your orders and/or break the prison's rules. > Chow Hall: Dining area where inmates can be taken for their meals. Meals must be roleplayed. Inmates in Range 1 or Range 2 must be fed in their cells. >Showers: A place for inmates to freshen up. Terms of Service violations should be reported to moderators. >Visitation Room (Prisoner Side): This is where you would bring a prisoner when a visitor is here for them. You must bring the prisoner here FIRST before bringing the visitor into their side of the room. > Visitation Room (Visitor Side): This is where you would bring the visitor AFTER the prisoner has been moved to their side. > Reception: The main entrance to the facility. This is where you would check the details of someone who is waiting to visit a prisoner. > Visitors must be searched before entering to ensure they have no weapons. If they decline the search, do not allow them to visit the prisoner. > Waiting Room: This is where visitors will sit while they wait for you to prepare the prisoner for the visit. >More information regarding Custodial Duties can be found in the guide which is in #cadet-resources. :::info - Ask if the Cadets have any questions. - Move the cadets to the parking lot. ::: ## Cadet Information > Please open up the Data Collection form which is in #cadet-resources. > Once this is done, spawn a vehicle and input the correct information and submit the form. > You should then place all of your department equipment into a vehicle and park your vehicle in the parking area. :::info - Once the cadets have completed their task, ask them to form a wedge on you to take your evidence screenshot. ::: :::danger - Ask them one by one to place their radio into a vehicle, and to get off team. You need to **search** them to ensure they do not have the radio. ::: ## Initiating the Fundamental Course 1. Go ahead and submit your [Fundamental Course Form](https://forms.gle/xRBjDqhrNwXxVB72A) 2. Post the exam announcement with the format below. Please tag the individual cadets. ``` :nhcso: **Fundamental Course - Examination** For those cadets who have **attended** this fundamental course, you have twenty-four (24) hours from this announcement to submit your exam to Training Command. **__Fundamental Exam__**: https://forms.gle/aiUhcNnB4fpt5fed6 Be sure to study the Standard Operating Procedure Manual and review LETI notes. > You will have **two attempts** to sit this exam with a passing rate of **85% to pass**.
