# BridgeAI Plus (New Funding Opportunity): Guidance to benefit from Open Source tools From February 2024, BridgeAI ISAs have been advising SMEs. Through their sessions they have found that some topics are constantly repeated and could be tackled on a scalable way, by providing upskilling sessions to a wider community, curating content and generating guidance on how to use some available open-source AI tools. As a way to scale ISAs support, The Turing Way Practitioners Hub is proposing to work with a RAM team to create guidance from Open Source tools available and how to incorporate them in their businesses. Recurrent requests from SMEs to ISAs team: * AI for Forecasting business revenue * AI for coding workshop or webinar (Siraj) * AI automation for dealing with customers * AI for productivity, automation, safety and accountability * creating resources to asses BridgeAI SMEs about their current AI capabilities and which tools are available (curated list) / Skills * AI for business (summary of easily accessible off—the-shelf tools) ---> Open Source Guidance, including licensing * Preparing grant applications. * Upskilling organisations to be able to apply to Innovation vouchers: what Jupyterhub notebook is, be able to open and run the code given to them, be able to switch methods based on recommendations, willing to educate themselves as to what the outputs and results mean ## Deliverable Outputs * Business case for Open Source: comparison from The Turing to the SMEs * Guidance to create a framework to incorporate open source, choosing the correcting licensing and why they would benefit from it * Guidance on incorporating Open Source in SMEs: how to spin out a company and how to incorporate some aspects of Open Source, decide what to have open and what business side to remain close ## Funding needs * RAM time for 6 months --> 0.50 Fte? Aida is interested in collaboration with Jen. * Event costs * Payment to advisors (legal team) * [ ] Ale will check with Arielle about RAM time costs ## Implementation and timeframe ### Scenario 1: * Classical desk research * Expert Lawyers sign-off * Launch to the companies ### Scenario 2: * Scoping session with organisations from BridgeAI network * Desk research + expert lawyers consultation * Write guidelines * Launch of guidelines - SMEs / BridgeAI event - [ ] Aida to add timeframe and select the best escenario ### Notes from Kirstie and Malvika * KW: RAM team helping ISAs about business models, how they select business models, what information they need to choose business models. ----> already identified from ISAs * KW: Process guidance to unlock expertise * MS: we have a network of lawyers that are willing to work with us, advisor recruitment could be done by the EoI that we are identifying as advisors. How can our TTW EIR be empowered to promote community building and OSS use, etc. ### New idea discussion * Business case for Open Source, how to embed open practices, which framework to use * TPS leads: MS, CB, SB would be advisors * Ale can bring BridgeAI community into this conversation to amplify this to a wider community
