# Encouraging contributions to *The Turing Way* Governance transition
*The Turing Way* is an open source, open collaboration, and community-driven project. We involve and support a diverse community of contributors to make data science accessible, comprehensible and effective for everyone. Our goal is to provide all the information that researchers and data scientists in academia, industry and the public sector need to ensure that the projects they work on are easy to reproduce and reuse. We strive for transparent decision making and inclusive governance.
By October 2023, *The Turing Way* has writen 313 live chapters with an average 457 contributors on Github, more than 900 Slack members and more than 4,000 followers on Mastodon and X (Twitter).
We acknowledge that *The Turing Way* community has become large and diverse and it will continue to grow. Therefore, from 2022 (*check this date*) a **Governance review** has taken place to transition into a model that supports a sustainable growing and diverse community.
During these months, many core team members have attended, interacted and contributed in different conversations about the Governance transition which has led to the following documentation created, synthesized and/or summarised by *The Turing Way* delivery team: Kirstie, Malvika, Arielle, Anne and Alexandra.

A healthy, inclusive and respectful governance transition requires active participation, with various open and transparent opinions. We welcome discrepancy, controversy and are thankful for willingness to listen, collaborate and build to create consensus that include different voices from the community.
We understand that a diverse community might need different methods for contribution, therefore, we are openning up the following options to collect feedback about the Governance transition plan:
* Governance Github issue (The Turing Way main source of truth and preffered space to call to action)
* Google docs (add link)
* Collaborations Cafe (group sessions on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month)
* 1:1 with Delivery Team members
All notes from Google docs, Collaborations cafe and 1:1 will be added by members of the Delivery team to the Governance Github issue in an anonimised (if requested) which will be our main source of truth.
Please choose your preferred option to share feedback by XX (*should a timeframe be added?*) and contact the delivery team if you have doubts
