# IETF (EU meeting) hackathon **When:** Saturday and Sunday before the IETF meeting starts. **Where:** it varies, see https://www.ietf.org/meeting/upcoming/ for a work in progress overview of the upcoming meeting dates and locations. **Relevance**: standard spec development and open-source prototyping of attestation-related technologies. The IETF [RATS working group](https://datatracker.ietf.org/wg/rats/about/) is where (most of) the magic happens. **Notes**: On Sunday the event closes in the early afternoon, which makes it possible to catch a late afternoon/night flight. ## Costs breakdown | Category | $ | notes | | -- | -- | -- | | Registration | 0 | - | | Eating and drinking | 0 | food and drinks are provided by the hackathon sponsor | | Sleeping | 2x200 | two nights, in the conference hotel | | Transportation | 200 | guesstimate for an EU participant, including low-fare flight and metro/bus to the hotel | Total: 600$ # FOSDEM **When**: Typically on the first weekend of February (next one is [1-2 February, 2025](https://fosdem.org/2025/)) **Where**: Brussels, Belgium **Relevance**: - Confidential Computing devroom is the most relevant devroom. (see schedule of last year [here](https://archive.fosdem.org/2024/schedule/track/confidential-computing/)) - This year, we propose a new devroom on attestation to have focused discussions around attestation. Notification is on 21st October. **Plan**: - Friday afternoon: [Attestation workshop](https://github.com/muhammad-usama-sardar/attestation-workshop-fosdem25). Possible formats: - Tutorial on attested TLS with open discussion on issues such as freshness - Lightening talks - Round table discussion on 1-2 topics of broad interest - IETF-style Hackathon (probably won't work with broad audience) - Saturday: First half for [CC devroom](https://fosdem.org/2025/schedule/track/confidential/) - Sunday: First half for [attestation devroom](https://fosdem.org/2025/schedule/track/attestation/) ## Costs breakdown Assuming: On Sunday, it may be possible to catch night flight. | Category | $ | notes | | -- | -- | -- | | Registration | 0 | Free of cost | | Eating and drinking | 0 | Even if not provided, food and drinks can be managed by the participants | | Sleeping | 2x110 | two nights in a non-luxury hotel | | Transportation | 250 | Estimate for an EU participant, including low-fare flight and metro/bus to the hotel | | Rent room for SIG meetup | Hopefully 0 | Under discussion with ULB to provide a room | Total: 470$
