# FAC17 CLIENT PROJECT - "Generation Change" --- ## The Team ---  CHRISTINE: My name is Christine and I have been working in and with tech for the last 3 years - where I found my interest in code. ---  GEORGIA: When she's not at a computer, you can find her at the theatre, practising her crow pose, or perhaps teaching her Scout Troop to code. ---  GIGI: My name Gigi and I am very passionate about coding and solving problems. I am keen on best practices as well as working as part of a team. ---  SAM: Sam is from the wilds of Shropshire where he grew up without tv and invented the hyperloop so he could get to his grandparents without traffic. Sadly Elon Musk claimed the idea. --- ## What is Generation Change? ---  Generation Change is a charity which wants to make social action a mainstream activity for young people --- ## The Problem --- Educators find it difficult to find viable high quality social action projects in their local area for young people to take part in. ---  --- ## Our Solution --- To build a platform for educators to find social action opportunities for the young people they work with. --- ## Design Week --- ### Main User Journey As a user, I want to find local social action opportunities for the young people I work with. --- ## Prototyping --- Design goals: - App for users with low tech literacy - Desktop focus - Easy navigation / get to "opportunity to contact" within 2 clicks ---  ---  --- ### User testing and feedback --- Wow, I would totally use this. ReactJS including the react router 2. Airtable as a database and content management system 3. Jest and Cypress for testing 5. Netlify for deployment 6. SASS & BEM for styling 7. Serverless with Lambda function via Netlify Dev 8. Leaflet open source map 9. Desktop first design --- ## Our team roles --- Gigi - UX/UI - Style guide, SASS, BEM Georgia - Scrum Master - Kanban, Organisation and Time Management Christine - DevOps - Lambda, Serverless, Netlify Sam - QA - Cypress, Jest, React testing library --- ## Challenges we faced --- * PO absent due to personal events * QA absent due to severe health injury, hence unavailable for the second half of build week nr 1 and the whole 2nd week --- ## Achievements --- * We worked well as a team * We have delivered out MVP * We're a lot more confident with react and testing in Jest * We've gone serverless * We've successfully manipulated an open source maps api to our will!! * We've learnt how to use airtable for backend.
