# AMD Options for collaborations
1. 100% Research Grant
- Expected Outcome: Publication and POC
- Human Resource Development: Postgraduate Student and publications
- Long Term Project: New Knowledge Discovery
- Joint growth between university and collaborator
- End product is prototype and no expectation on implementation
- suitable for project that is related to new finding, algorithm development or alike
3. Research Grant & Consultancy
- Human Resource Development: Postgraduate Student and publications
- The downside is thining the resources for academic research and consultancy at the same time.
- Depending on the project scope; the scope might be difficult to find the synergy between academic and industrial expectation
5. Individual Consultancy
- Short-term project based
- easy to control as project is smaller pieces but potentially lack of cohesion
- common practice of consultancy usually puts more emphasis on advisory services
- the sponsor could own any intellectual property and expect complete confidentiality; no academic publication requirement.
7. UTAR Start-Up Company
- Start-up is expected to be involved in helping client to implement the solution they seek and not just advisory service
- freedom to hire programmers/engineers to work on the implementations
- the sponsor could own any intellectual property and expect complete confidentiality; no acaademic publication requirement.
- no need to train programmer/engineer from the scratch and thus shorten the implementation time
- the project involves buying the skills and expertise (pre-existing know how) of university staff and equipment to work on a specified project
# Estimation
*Depending on the project scale, estimate can varies*
| Item | Research Grant & Consultancy | Individual Consultancy | UTAR Start-Up Company |
| --------------- | ---- | ---- | ---- |
| Manpower needed | | | |
| Cost | | | |
| Duration | | | |
| Success rate | Low | Medium | High |
# Agenda
1. Definition of problem statement and deliverables
1.1 Background information on data flow architecture/API
Show them the current used case1/2/3 flow + latest diagram and datamining used case
1.2 Scope of the research, if available
Problem Statement:
- No analytic and visualization of the existing TF-AMD data
- Harnessing the hidden insight from the existing data structured and non-structured
- No standardized data repository to gather all the data from numerous data source to cater for user requested use case

3. Will AMD provide any manpower?
a) AMD staff doing part-time postgrad?
Time being no.
One engineer will be allocated to work with UTAR pertaining to Big Data
5. After project is over, will AMD handle own maintainence?
Yes
7. Any hardware support? Or software requirements? (Sql and Hadoop)
- We prefer to handle & manage the HW infra (on premis or cloud), but if the university have the infra + software may be we can tap to that for POC
- Big data Software Module is open for proposal, prefer all repository in HDFS data lake format to facilitate Big data analitic process
9. Scope
1. Infra and Big Data Framework setup + HDFS Data Lake
2. ETL on structure and un-structure data to HDFS data lake
3. Analitic base on use case data via ETL
4. Visualization of the data as needed
10. Others
- NDA
