# How To Upgrade AXIS Camera

>Devices will continually require updated versions. This document provides guidance on how to upgrade your AXIS device.

## Steps

### Step1 - Go to the Maintenance page
* Click "Maintenance" in the menu
* You will see an upgrade button in the block of AXIS OS upgrade

### Step2 - Click upgrade button
* After clicking upgrade button, a dialog will display
* The dialog content shows the step flow

### Step3 - Download device software
* Go to the link [Download Device Software](https://www.axis.com/support/device-software) to download the OS version
* Enter the product name to search the proper software

>When choosing the software version, please check [recommendations](https://help.axis.com/en-us/axis-os#upgrade-recommendations) for upgrading for the recommended approach to gradual upgrades instead of rapid upgrades.

### Step4 - Upload the device software
* Upload the device software picked up in Step3

### Step5 - Select upgrade type
* There are three upgrade types
* Standard upgrade
* Factory default
* Autorollback
* Here, we select "Autorollback"

### Step6 - Confirm the installation
* Press the "Upgrade" button to proceed.

## Precautions
>[!Important]
>* When upgrading to "version +1," check for breaking changes beforehand.
>* Review the AXIS release notes.
>* Ensure you know how to roll back before upgrading.
>* OS upgrades or rollbacks may modify settings, potentially reverting your device to default. Verify your settings afterward.
