**Question:** Should we turn L into a career path system with specific titles (Staff Engineer) tracked by the L variable as a whole number, and allow for decimals only as used in the salary equation?

* "I really like this in general, I think it solves a lot of the problems we have. I like that it encodes how much support an individual is able to provide."
* "However, roles at Hypha aren't easy to define. Are we engineers? Not really."
* "It might be a good exercise to try to name a role for yourself"
* "This discussion is not about the roles, however, but about the qualifiers"

**Question:** Should we get rid of 'Responsibility' as a salary measure?
* "Why was responsibility there in the first place?"
* "So that people could choose to take a paycut if they want to take an easier job"
* "How much do you wanna be in founder mode?"
* Some amount of acknowledging internal work that doesn't fit into one's career path
* But we have other ways of compensating this kind of work now
* And the "founderish" roles/labour can be formalized
* There's a sustainability problem here. There's no incentive to come down.
* People shouldn't be on founder mode if they don't need to
* No one uses R as something that is changeable
* This creates a liability for Hypha if everyone wants to be super-founder and we max out our Rs
* How do you budget for that?
* We need to find incentives for people to take initiative beyond their role
* We don't want to make Hypha hyper transactional though.
* Not every piece of work should have a dollar value, with an internal marketplace emerging
