# Podia application
## Okay, now let's get into the good stuff: what caught your eye about Podia and this role? *
There were 3 main points that caught my eye about this role at Podia:
- the small, impactful and customer obsessed team
- the focus on building a great product that customers love
- and the education aspect of the platform that enables entrepreneurs to share their knowledge with the world
Being a self-taught developer, I have relied heavily on mentors and resources, both in my life and on the internet. As a result, I have seen the value of e-learning resources over a traditional education and want to get involved with a company that is making this easy for both educators and people wanting to learn. I see Podia as the Shopify for content creators and educators enabling and giving them the freedom to share their knowledge with the world on their own terms, unlike traditional marketplaces like Udemy. Reading the amazing customer testimonials and feedback across forums showed me that Podia team has focused relentlessly on customer pain points and solved these with a very simple and easy to use product. This mixed with a small tight-knit team made me excited about this opportunity at Podia and to learn more about the product and the team.
## Please share a pull request you wrote, GitHub issue you reported, or Stackoverflow question you answered and are particularly proud of.
We're as interested in how you discuss code with others as the code itself
I want to preface this answer by saying that I have recently been getting involved with the open source community, so I do not have a lot of public OSS code (yet!). However, here are some of my recent pull requests on one of my favorite and highly used gems.

I have been meaning to turn a side project I worked in my free time into an open source rails gem. Here's a quick video explaining the purpose and the motivation behind this:

## Last question! Is there anything else we should know? *
We don't ask for a traditional cover letter, but this is your chance to tell us anything you think we need to know. Relevant experience, projects you're particularly proud of, conference talks, articles, anything!
Thanks Podia team for this opportunity. A few aspects of the platform that I believe I can add value around would be the video playback experience for both the creators and end-users. Video is a great medium for both the teachers and learners and with the Wisita player JavaScript API I can help the team create a more immersive learning experience for the end-users. We can also discuss potentially helping creators also record and publish quick videos using third party tool integrations. I will go over these in the following video:

In addition, my previous experience at Vidyard and AsteroidX has helped me grow and get accustomed to building third party API integrations, which will assist me in maintaining current and adding new integrations with Podia.
Having read content such as 'How to Create and Sell a Highly Profitable Online Course' and watching some of Jason Charnes' talks at conferences shows the true passion that drives the Podia team to excel with their customers, the product and the Ruby community. For my next role, I am looking to be part of a small, fast moving team that's building a product that customers love, with high ownership of work, autonomy, mentorship and support from the team, and Podia was the obvious choice. I look forward to speaking with your team to discuss the role in detail and future growth potential with Podia's team.
Thanks for your time,
Basil
