#### What is Skygazers?
Skygazers is an experiment of scifi-fantasy world-building as a collaborative effort. Using web3-technology, we want to create a scifi-universe that is owned and maintained by its creators.

Think of Star Wars, Marvel, X-men or any of your favorite fictional universes: they all consist of the same basic elements: a set of characters and places, combined into different story lines, and tied together with an overarching lore.

With the Skygazers experiment, the characters and the places are designed upon the foundation of the project. The story lines and the overarching lore is what we, the community, will be creating together.

The value of what is created, will be owned by those who create it, as is the web3-ethos.

#### Skygazers... but why though?
Skygazers is born in the believe that web3-technology enables new forms of co-creation.

First, it helps overcome the difficulties presented when a large group of people creates together. Questions like 'How are decisions made', 'who has the final saying' and 'how are contributions measured' are some of difficulties that lead a failure of coordination, misaligning the cocreators, who in the end have the same goal in mind.

A solid web3 structure functions as an unbreakable sets rules, rules in which coordination can happen on a large scale. Rules that can evolve to new arrising needs, and that can be executed in a decentral way, because, in web3: code is law.

Beyond simple overcoming difficulties, web3 also breaths live into a new way of rewarding value: those who contribute to Skygazers, also own what they contributed, and can therefore be rewarded when the value of that they added comes to fruition.

This is why Skygazers exists, and everyone is invited to join and cocreate together.

#### Who is Monk?
Good question: who *is* Monk? I mean: who knows, right! All we really know is: Monk is the first character to take the stage in the Skygazers-universe. But what is he doing there? What's his real name... where is he from? And why is he staring at the sky in the first place?

Well, all of these questions and more will be answered by the stuff that you (and I) will write about him. Together we'll be determining everything there will be known about Monk, by the stories that we write about him or involving him!

Owning a Skygazers-NFT allows you to write out the story that you feel belongs to that NFT. So if you own one depicting Monk, chances are you'll be writing about him, one way or the other.
