Here is English translation(by ChatGPT)
This time, the competition involved random team assignments. The top 96 players with the highest PP among the registered participants were eligible to enter the competition. As the registration deadline approached, some players began rapidly increasing their PP. I was securely within the top 96, but just about an hour before the deadline, Fewesf9 informed me that I had been pushed out of the top 96. I quickly worked to raise my PP again, though in hindsight, it might not have been necessary since some players didn’t pass the official screening.
The team assignments followed a formula designed to “fairly” evaluate each player’s strength, after which players were categorized into A, B, or C tiers. Unsurprisingly, I was placed in Group C. However, I noticed that many players were misclassified—some were overestimated, and others underestimated. Unfortunately, as long as derankers exist, such issues are unavoidable.
Each team was randomly composed of two A-tier, two B-tier, and two C-tier players. Strangely enough, I was paired with my 4DM teammate, Shice2566, who was in Group B. My two A-tier teammates were [Zekken] and Nikorofanboy, and the other two members were Mrfoap from Group B and Fr05tyGD from Group C. Given the tournament format, success heavily depended on the performance of the C-tier players. I checked out Fr05tyGD and saw that he had a good balance, and I could handle SV (Slide Velocity). Shice2566 was also an excellent B-tier player. Although I didn’t know much about the others, it seemed we had a pretty decent team! Originally, the official captain was [Zekken], but since I had been the captain for this year’s 4DM, he passed the role to me. Interestingly, I was the only C-tier captain among the 16 teams. Our team name was Kamisato Lemon, and we created a flashy team emblem. My teammates were very creative.
Next was the qualifier round. To my surprise, none of the A-tier players could play SV, especially Nikorofanboy. The stereotype led me to assume that Japanese players would naturally be good at SV, lol. But it didn’t matter since our team still managed to field three SV players. When the qualifiers started, I performed poorly, especially in SV, where I lost quite a few points. Midway through, Shice2566 had to leave due to some reasons, and we ended up finishing 9th in the qualifiers, right in the middle.
Next came the main tournament. In the Round of 16 (Ro16), we lost 4:5 to Pixel 7, won 6:0 against SKIBIDI Archive in the Quarterfinals (QF), and finally lost 3:6 to Play Robeats in the Semifinals (SF). I participated in the first two matches. There wasn’t much to note in those matches. In the first one, we chose SV/LN, while the opponent chose RC/HB. Unfortunately, we were reverse-swept from a 4:1 lead. I think a big reason was that both [Zekken] and I got nervous, and our performance dropped significantly. However, at the same time, Fr05tyGD was a player capable of performing exceptionally well in matches, which allowed us to reach the TB. In the second match, there wasn’t much to say since the opponent’s C-tier players scored low on every map, so we easily secured a sweep. I wasn’t present for the last match due to attending a camp, but judging from the results, the maps looked tough. I’m really impressed that my teammates managed to win 3 points.
Now, on to what I learned from this tournament. As a captain, I realized that organizing a completely random team isn’t easy. The most challenging part was coordinating the match times each week. Most of my teammates quickly informed me of their availability each week, except for one person, Nikorofanboy. I really don’t like to criticize, but I think he was a bit too irresponsible as a team player. During the first week, when I was scheduling the qualifier time, he reported his availability very late, and after the main tournament started, he never appeared on the field again. After the Ro16 match, he told me he wasn’t feeling well due to a cold, and then he completely disappeared. He didn’t say a word in the Discord chat or fill in his availability, essentially vanishing into thin air. If you can’t attend for a valid reason, I can understand, but at least explain it. For example, I couldn’t participate in the third match, but I informed my teammates two weeks before the match. I don’t think that’s too difficult to do. And was he really unavailable? I don’t think so because I saw on Twitter that he participated in some SKST show match. Maybe he decided our team had no chance from the moment it was formed, so he didn’t show up? All I can say is that this behavior isn’t great, and I hope he improves next time.
In conclusion, I think the idea of organizing this tournament was great. The staff were dedicated, and the map pool was excellent. I hope it continues in the future. I also got to know my teammates and made some friends. If I join the next tournament, I hope to aim for a higher rank.
