--- tags: mstu4052, notes, technology --- # Tech Week Notes - Preparation A quick note on class interests regarding: - Subject areas - Potential topics - Technology genres Based on which I'll be assigning groups to take over one of the technology weeks and themes. During technology week - each group will essentially do the following: :::info - Find 1-2 articles that can shed light on the strengths of how such technology might get learners to think actively about understanding goals. - E.g. What kind of concepts, learning, problems are these technologies well suited for? - Give a demonstration of how such a technology might be used as performances of understanding. - With specific tasks demonstrated, specific supports designed, etc. - In the context of the TFU framework: e.g. provide a generative topic, understanding goals, then explain how technology might be used as part of the performances of understanding. ::: As a class we will discuss the merits as well as shortcomings (a critique) of the potential this technology may have. ## Organized by Student Name I think it's probably easiest to organize this by each student name - so just use the example below and submit your area of interest. I can't guarantee full coverage of all areas, topics, technologies, but plan to use this as a guide to pick appropriate weekly themes and organize this in a way that will hit areas that are at least relevant to us in some way. :::success Log into hackmd.io and directly EDIT this document with your interest / info below. ::: **(Example)** - Jin Kuwata - Subject areas: programming, science, math - Specific topics: computational thinking, logic - Technology genres: maker spaces, physical computing devices - Anqi Duan - Subject areas: visual arts, programming, learning analytics - Specific topics: creativity, collaboration, bias, data visualizations - Technology genres: dashboards, social media - Joanna Yoon - Subject areas: user experience, communications - Specific topics: ux design, interaction design, storytelling - Technology genres: web, mobile, social media, digital platforms - Maho Hayashi - Subject areas: social-emotional learning, communications - Specific topics: emotions, empathy, building positive relationships, social skills - Technology genres: web, digital storyboard, video - Linhui Guo - Subject areas: language learning and teaching, K-12/early childhood education - Specific topics: ux design, interaction design, Articulate Storyline - Technology genres: web, mobile, social media - Yixuan Zhang - Subject areas: communications, media studies, gender study - Specific topics: media consumption, storytelling, stereotype - Technology genres: web, social media, digital platform, video - Shuyue Zhou - Subject areas: math, science, programming - Specific topics: computational thinking, game creation - Technology genres: maker space, digital platforms - Zhe Shi - Subject areas: language learning, communications, math - specific topics: constructivism, cognitive constructs, storytelling, user experience - Technology genres: ICT, maker spaces - Yujun Zhang - Subject area: communication, film, gender studies - Specific topics: culture, storytelling, stereotype - Technology genres: social media, video, digital platforms
