# EPF - Update 3

As EPF day at ETHCC is approaching fast, I'm studying more about various proposals around SSF to gain an understanding of this research phase.

I'm currently going through the research published by Francesco and Luca titled A Simple Single Slot Finality Protocol For Ethereum.

I also came across a new proposal about Orbit SSF. It is a mechanism which uses fast rotation to achieve some economic garuntee after each slot.


Vitalik also talked about this in a recent blog post and said that we can change the accronym SSF from Single Slot Finality to something like "Speedy Secure Finality". Somewhat similar to MEV I guess where the term "Miner" was replaced with "Maximal".

The research around SSF is diversifying where the notion of "Single Slot" is not always accurate. The end goal is to achieve faster finality for the Ethereum mainnet.

### Roadmap for week 4

As the fellows have to present their project proposals at Brussels on Sunday, I'm keen to wrap up my research and start preparing my proposal.

I need to complete the research paper on SSF and contact Francesco for some mentorship before my presentation after which I can start the 4 month long journey towards my project.
