The game's narrative will be driven by a cast of memorable characters, each with their own motivations and agendas. The player must navigate through the complex relationships between these characters to achieve their goals and emerge victorious. ## Character After serving as a soldier during the American wars in the Middle East, the main character returned home and struggled to adjust to civilian life. They suffered from PTSD and turned to alcohol and drugs to cope. One night, while under the influence, the main character was involved in a violent altercation that resulted in the death of a civilian. Facing the possibility of life in prison, the main character was "rescued" by The Agency, a non-governmental entity that operated outside of the law. The Agency's operatives helped the main character escape and gave them a new identity, erasing their past and giving them a chance at a new life. The main character was transferred to Africa to lead a group for The Agency's objectives, the liberation of Africa from neo-colonialist powers such as the PMCs. As a veteran with combat experience, the main character was well-suited for the mission. They were determined to make a difference in a world that had previously rejected them and to use their skills and experience for a noble cause. However, as the main character navigates through the complex web of relationships and alliances in Africa, they begin to question the ethics of The Agency's objectives and their own role in the conflict. The main character must grapple with their own troubled past and the consequences of their actions as they fight to achieve their objectives and emerge victorious. ## Factions ### The agency: A multinational organization that presents itself as a force for good, dedicated to ending global powers. They brought the player character under their wing to give them a new life, and have now sent them to lead a militia group to achieve their objectives in Africa. While they initially put effort into securing African independence, their goals become more unclear as the war progresses. ### Lukanza Government: The Lukanza government is the official governing body of the area, but they are struggling to maintain power amid the various factions vying for control. They are unable to stop the exploitation of their nation and their people, and are often powerless to act. However, they still possess significant military forces that should not be underestimated. ### Javier's renegades: Led by a rogue general, Javier's renegades were originally a faction fighting for change in the government to improve conditions for the people. However, they have since turned into a group of ruthless bandits who will work with anyone to achieve their own ends. They are notorious for their unpredictability and brutality, and should be approached with extreme caution. ### African Liberation Front: A rebel group that has remained true to their beliefs and seeks genuine change in the status quo. The ALF is one of the few indigenous forces in the region fighting for African independence, despite being outnumbered and outgunned. They receive support from The Agency, but their lack of resources and manpower makes their struggle all the more difficult. ### People's Army: A Marxist-Leninist militia that seeks to establish a unified socialist government. They are known for their brutal methods and have little regard for human life. Not much is known about them, but they are a force to be reckoned with. ### Killian's bandits: A depraved group of bandits who are hostile to anyone and profit from the drug trade and extensive slave labor operations. They are infamous for their brutal methods and their use of child soldiers, and are not to be trifled with. ### Wagner group: A PMC of Russian origin that is feared for their brutality and the hiring of prisoners of war. They protect Russian interests in Africa, and are often hired by various governments in the region for security as they possess the training and equipment for surgical strikes. They are considered very dangerous and have a reputation for being ruthless. ### Maleshenko's battalion: A rogue battalion of Wagner group PMCs that was formed after an internal strife within Wagner. They are highly trained and will stop at nothing to achieve their objectives. ### Weiyuen Security Group (Chinese PMC/backed forces): A private military corporation securing interests of various Asian corporations. They employ hired guns and former or current military personnel, including actual Chinese special forces. They have a growing presence in the region due to significant Chinese investment, and are obsessed with maintaining a positive public image while being capable of delivering serious damage if provoked. ### Jaeger Gruppe: A new European PMC that arose after several incidents from MurkyWater. They are led by European corporations seeking better protection and integrate special forces. They operate similarly to other PMCs. ### Arexis group (American PMC): Formerly known as Murkywater, the Arexis Group has a history of shady operations protecting various Western corporate interests in post-invasion Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. They present themselves as heroes but are really just guns for hire, and are now being used by several governments when ambiguity is needed. ### US SOCCOM & CIA CONTRACTORS US SOCOM forces are elite special operations units of the United States military, tasked with conducting unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, and counter-terrorism operations. Their operations in the region are limited to a few clandestine locations, but they are extremely deadly when they do show up, as they are heavily supported by US assets and intelligence. They operate against terrorist elements and are known for their efficiency and precision. While they do not have a significant presence in the region, they are a force to be reckoned with when they are deployed. CIA contractors are considered an extension of them. ### UN Peacekeeping Force: A multinational force dedicated to maintaining peace and security in the region. They are often deployed to protect important resource centers and humanitarian aid distribution points from bandit attacks. However, due to limited resources and political constraints, they are unable to take decisive action against the various factions and PMCs operating in the area. As a result, they are seen as largely ineffective by the local population and are often the subject of criticism and ridicule. Nevertheless, they do provide a modicum of stability in an otherwise chaotic and dangerous environment.
