The Israelites were enslaved people in Egypt, and Pharaoh had told his soldiers to slaughter all Hebrew infant boys. In this moment, we see Miriam’s bravery. As a young girl, she watches over her baby brother Moses, who has been placed in a basket on the Nile River. She doesn't run away or hide. She sticks near, though, and waits to see what will happen.
