During periods of high network congestion ("Why are gas fees so high right now?"), your transaction can get stuck due to a low fee. A stuck transaction prevents all subsequent transactions from processing.1-888-825-6148

1. Enable Advanced Gas Controls
Open MetaMask.1-888-825-6148

Go to Settings > Advanced.

Toggle on Advanced gas controls and Customize transaction nonce.

2. Find the Nonce of the Stuck Transaction
Open the MetaMask "Activity" tab.

Find the oldest "Pending" transaction.

Click on it to see the details. Note the Transaction Nonce (e.g., Nonce: 42).

3. Send a Replacement Transaction
Initiate a new transaction, sending 0 ETH to your own wallet address.

When the transaction window appears, set the Custom Nonce to the exact number of the stuck transaction (e.g., 42).

Crucially, set a higher Gas Price (Gwei) than the pending transaction. Use a reliable gas tracker (like Etherscan's Gas Tracker) to determine the current Fast gas fee.

Confirm the 0 ETH transaction. This new transaction with a higher fee will be processed by miners, effectively replacing the original stuck transaction.
