**Chroma Key: Removing a green screen from your footage in DaVinci Resolve** By Fajr Khan If you record footage in front of a green screen, you may want to replace the background. This process is known as chroma key. Although there are tutorials that show you how to do this in the color page, the easiest method is to work in the edit page. **Tip: Change the green screen background before doing any other editing such as splitting, deleting, and moving around clips, so that you only need to change the background once rather than on each individual clip.** What you need: - footage shot with a green screen - background footage - device with DaVinci Resolve 1. Open DaVinci Resolve and drag your green-screen footage and new background footage into the media pool 2. Move to the edit page and drag the green screen footage and background footage into the edit space. **Make sure the green screen footage is above the background footage.** 3. Select the green screen footage 4. Click the "effects" tab on the top left of the screen 5. Click "Open FX" in the side menu 6. In the search bar that pops up, type "3D Keyer" and drag it on to the selected green screen footage 7. Click the arrow next to the "transform" square at the top of the bottom tab near the left of the screen, and change the setting to "Open FX Relay" 9. On the right side of the screen, in the "inspector" tab, open "effects" 10. Click the "eyedropper" tool with the plus (third eyedropper tool) 11. Click the green screen and it should be replaced with the background footage
