# Armadas and Debuffs
* Armada participants (de-) register themselves via in-game chat (see [🇬🇧 Rules](https://hackmd.io/@hawks/netiquette_en#Armadas))
* Debuffs afflict the target only once and do not add up (e.g., Reduce Critical Hit Chance and the following)
* Hull Breach on target increases critical hit damage by 150 %
* Burning on target reduces hull health by 1 % each round
* Morale on own ship increases offense attributes by 10 % (Kirk, Harry Kim)
* Armada loot is distributed according to player ships' strength
* Abilities to increase loot (e.g., Geordi La Forge) do not reduce others' loot

# Wave Defense
* Five players (possibly from different alliances) have to protect a system's central station
* Hostiles spawn in waves 🌊 all around the system border and attack the central station
* Type, number and positions of hostiles are the same for each defense process (see infographics below)
* Defeated waves reward Section 31 Credits that can be spent in its faction shop for
* favors, like Armada Quick Start and Wave Defense related boosts
* officer shards, faction reputation and other
* Upon completing the 500^th^ wave (as in individual wave, not complete defense) you'll be rewarded an avatar in the Section 31 faction shop
* More information in [🇬🇧 M61 Patch Notes](https://home.startrekfleetcommand.com/news/https:--startrekfleetcommand.com-2023-12-05-update-61-subspace-transmission-wave-defense) and at [🇬🇧 John W. Siskar](https://stfc.johnwsiskar.com/wave-defense/#section31)
**Level 40** systems:

**Level 50** systems:

# Access to Deep Space and Warp Range
* Different names for the same: Deep Space, Dark Space
* It refers to access to G4 systems and beyond
* Viewing these systems is only possible with a ship or the station inside
* Requirement is Operations level 38
* Unlock comes from the main story line (complete golden-bordered missions from your mission log)
* Buying Silence
* Distant Memories
* Folding
* Decipher
* Warzones
* Syndicated Science
* Perpetual Motion
* One Of Us
* Home Worlds
* City Middle
* Ancestral Answer
* Invaluable Asset
* Power Up
* The Primeval
* Dark Space ← that's the one
Some missions later in the main story line and from Ops level 42 you can research additional warp range:
* Complete mission *Angel in Disguise* for Warp Particle
* In Galaxy research (column 20) unlock *Enhanced Warp Cores* with the Warp Particle
(that particular research node is unlocked from Ops 40 already -- the mission only from Ops 42 though...)
* Subsequent tiers of this research node do not require additional particles, but an improved Ops:
| Enhanced Warp Cores | Warp Range | Ops Level |
| ------------------- | ---------- | --------- |
| Tier 1 | +5 = 5 | 40 |
| Tier 2 | +5 = 10 | 42 |
| Tier 3 | +5 = 15 | 44 |
| Tier 4 | +5 = 20 | 46 |
| Tier 5 | +5 = 25 | 48 |
# Faction Reputation Locks
At certain thresholds of faction reputation you cannot go below that threshold any more.
| Factions | Reputation Lock 1 | Reputation Lock 2 | Reputation Lock 3 | Reputation Lock 4 |
| ------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| Federation<br/>Klingons</br>Romulans | 10 mil.<br/>10.000.000<br/>*Respected* | 1 bil.<br/>1.000.000.000<br/>*Champion* | 15 bil.<br/>15.000.000.000<br/>*Legend* | 500 bil.<br/>500.000.000.000<br/>*Hero* |
# Freeze Pursuers
You can "freeze" hostiles, so they cannot chase your ship any longer.
That is useful especially early in the game, when your own ships aren't very strong and your faction reputation isn't high yet - for example in territories of Federation, Klingons and Romulans.
1. Put a good distance between your ship and the hostile
1. Now attack it or fly towards a spot directly in front of it, but click `Recall` immediately<br/>(your ship stops and initiates its warp engine)
1. Cancel recall using `Stop` (you have five seconds to do so)
1. Don't move your ship until the red circle disappears and the hostile stops; it's frozen now
# Combat Triangle / Trinity
Ships in STFC are of one of these types
* Explorers, e.g. Enterprise, Voyager and Jellyfish
* Interceptors, e.g. Pilum, Defiant and Northcutt
* Battleships, e.g. Augur, Mantis and Stella
* Survey ships, also called miner; e.g., Horizon, D'Vor and Amalgam
Former three have strengths and weaknesses against each other following the rock-paper-scissors principle. No strengths or weakness apply to miners and defense platforms. That's called the combat triangle, or trinity:

Essentially, this works if one's primary offensive attribute counters the opponent's primary defense attribute:
| Ship type | Primary defense | Primary offense |
| --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------- | ---------------------------- |
|  Explorer | `A` Shield Deflection | Accuracy (counters `B`) |
|  Interceptor | `B` Dodge | Armor Pierce (counters `C`) |
|  Battleship | `C` Armor | Shield Pierce (counters `A`) |
# Damage, Shields and Mitigation
* Normal Damage
* Calculation of normal damage begins with base values of ship weaponry components, and with the frequency they are fired per round. All bonuses are added and multiplied which are unlocked from research, officiers, ship abilities etc.
* A special role is taken by critical hits: They cause additional damage over normal hits already. Yet if the opponent has Hull Breach on his ship, critical damage gets increased by 150 % -- that is, at the end of calculations, after all research, officers abilities etc. have been factored in. That causes dramatically high damage values, und that's why we're seeing officers like Gorkon and Lorca as *Crit Crews* and in PvP, too.
* Finally there is Burning, like from Nero or Georgiou. While burning, the opponent loses 1 % hull health each round -- which is strong in long battles, for example versus armadas.
* More information at [🇬🇧 John W. Siskar](https://stfc.johnwsiskar.com/moral-hull-breach-and-burning/)
* Reduction
* Research und officers (e.g., Chen or T'Laan) reduce hostile damage before it hits our mitigation and shields. A maximised Pike-Moreau-Chen crew can reduce damage by 96 % !
* Mitigation
* The mitigation of damage is the standard defense of all ships and opponents. All damage that was mitigated is dropped from further calculations, and won't deduct from shields or hull. Maximising mitigation therefore often is the most important goal in finding efficient crews. If you're interested in the tiny details look at the [🇬🇧 STFC Tool](https://stfc-toolbox.vercel.app/mitigation).
* As rule of thumb, the mitigation can be viewed as the ratio of defense and offense attributes:
| Offense attribute | Defense attribute | Mitigation |
| ----------------- | ------------------ | ---------- |
| 1 | 1 (equal to ←) | 38.8 % |
| 1 | 2 (double of ←) | 52.8 % |
| 1 | 3 (triple of ←) | 60.0 % |
| 1 | 4 (quadruple of ←) | 62.2 % |
| 1 | ∞ of ← | 63.0 % |
* Thus, if an explorer ship has double the shield deflection of what a battleship has in shield pierce, then the explorer will mitigate 52.8 % of the battleship's damage caused! Approaching even triple or quadruple of that value, base mitigation approaches its maximum of 63 %.
* Because officers like Pike and Moreau reduce the offense attributes of opponents by 154 % (on max level), above ratio shifts considerably to our favor. That's why crews like this are so strong -- we are taking almost no damage from hostile fire.<br/><br/>*Image from [🇬🇧 STFC Tool](https://stfc-toolbox.vercel.app/mitigation)*
* Shields
* What damage remains after mitigation is 80 % absorbed by the shields; 20 % hit as hull damage. That's normality at least -- some officers change this ratio: SNW Pike's captains ability, for example.
* Worthy of note: Even a single remaining shield point suffices to only receive 20 % hull damage. That's why officers that restore parts of the shield round by round are effective often: For example Eurydice, or Spock (whom we know on the Stella versus Eclipse armadas)
* Apex Barrier → [🇬🇧 New Battle Stat: Apex Barrier Modifier](https://startrekfleetcommand.com/news/new-battle-stat-apex-barrier-modifier/)
* True damage mitigation, applied after all other mitigation calculations have been made
* Every 10,000 Apex Barrier increases the damage you can take by 100 %
* Example: If you have 100 HP and 10,000 Apex Barrier, you would effectively have 200 HP. If you have 20,000 Apex Barrier, then you would have 300 HP. Or, if you used to be able to kill 10 hostiles, with 10,000 Apex Barrier you can kill 20
* Apex Barrier does not work with armadas
* Upgrades come from the Mirror Research tree → [MU economy loop](https://hackmd.io/@hawks/ships#Mirror-Universe-vs-Terran-Empire)
* Isolytic Damage
* Isolytic damage was introduced with the Voyager arc into the game. Isolytic damage gets calculated as a percentage of standard damage:<br/>Isolytic Damage = (Total Standard Damage * Isolytic Damage Bonus) / (1 + Opponents Isolytic Defense)
* Isolytic damage bypasses standard defenses and mitigation completely. Instead it gets reduced only from Isolytic Defense, before hitting shields and being reduced by 80 % like normal damage, eventually hitting the hull. As many hostiles in the game do not sport any isolytic defense (especially not older from before Voyager arc), this damage type completely bypasses their standard mitigation and hits shields and hull in full effect.
* Official material from Scopely: [🇬🇧 Scopely Help Center](https://scopely.helpshift.com/hc/en/19-star-trek-fleet-command/faq/7300-isolytic-damage/) and this graphic:<br/>
# Isolytic Artifacts
Isolytic artifacts can cause up to 8 % additional isolytic damage to opponents. Each artifact only works for the specified ship type and if the specified requirement is met. The actual amount of damage depends on the artifact's level. The requirement can be met using one of the listed bridge or lower decks officers.
| Ship type | Artifact | Requirement | Bridge officers (selection) | Lower decks officers |
| --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------- | ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------- |
| Explorer | Captain Proton's Blaster | own ship has Morale | Kirk, TOS Kirk, Marcus<br/>PvP: Weyoun, PIC Picard | VOY Harry Kim |
| Interceptor | Blade of Tkon | opponent has Hull Breach | Gorkon, Lorca, Kang, Doctor T'Ana<br/>PvP: Gul Dukat, PIC Worf | VOY B'Elanna Torres |
| Battleship | Vidiian Honatta Organ Harvester | opponent is Burning | Georgiou, Nero, Charvanek, Doctor T'Ana<br/>PvP: Strike Team La'an & Ortegas, PIC Riker | VOY Neelix |
