# What is Team?

HackMD Team lets you create a collaborative workspace where you can share your thoughts and engage with your community.

All team members can see all team notes and team managers control each member's permissions. According to your community's need, the team can also be a public one, where everyone can contribute.

## Team privacy types

There are two types of HackMD teams:
- **Public**: All notes, team membership, and contributorship in the public team is public and searchable in the search engine.
- **Private**: Membership and contributorship are hidden, team notes can be set private to the team, or public when needed.

## Change team private setting

1. If you'd like to change your team's privacy settings.
2. Go to 【Team setting page > General】 then roll down to the bottom.
3. Click "Change to Private team / Public team"


## Team profile

Like a user, each team has a profile page. Visitors can view public team notes and filter them with tags.

Team members and contributors will also be shown on the profile page. Click on the avatar of each user and see their profile page! :man-surfing:
