# How much does it cost for Geek Squad to fix a computer?
**Geek Squad Computer Repair Prices**
Geek Squad offers an online service just like me. However, look at their current prices as of April 2023:
One-time online support is Geek Squad's cheapest option, starting at $69.99 for a PC tune-up service (you'd pay $99.99 for it in the store).
(I charge a flat rate of $69.99 for any computer problem - not just a tune-up. It doesn't matter how long it takes. And I don't charge if it's bad news)
BEST ALTERNATIVE TO GEEK SQUAD
Best Buy's fees are generally higher than those of most local repair shops.
In addition, they pay their computer technicians very poorly.
Most of what you pay goes to the company, not the technician with the skills and knowledge.
Take a look at their current pay rates:

It's easy to see how Geek Squad dominates Google search results due to its unlimited advertising budget. When you consider everything, including the experience level of their computer technicians (usually less than 5 years), poor pay, and the fact that they send all hardware repairs to a third party, Geek Squad prices may not to be the best choice to get your laptop or desktop repaired.
Please check with other local or online repair shops before heading to Geek Squad.
You'll likely not only receive better prices and service, but you'll be supporting small businesses that Geek Squad isn't. Thank you for supporting small businesses like mine!
How much does Geek Squad cost to repair a computer?
With a multitude of computer repair options, Best Buy's Geek Squad is the one you see the most when you search the web. The reason? Advertisement. Best Buys spends millions of dollars to ensure they are one of the very first computer repair places you see when looking for a computer repair.
It's not because they are top rated. In fact, Geek Squad's average Google rating as of 4/25/2023 is only 3.4.

Geek Squad has apparently reduced its "Totaltech" subscription service from what was a $9.99 per month subscription service (with an upfront fee of $99.99) which totaled $219.87 in the first year and $119.88 per year thereafter. However, just see what it actually covered and you'd probably find that it wouldn't cover the most serious and time-consuming issues.
Geek Squad no longer seems to have a monthly subscription service. From what I can see, your only option now is annual for $199 per year. If you never need serious computer help and just need some tweaking and cleaning, it's not so bad. But again, beware of ANY monthly subscription service for computer help. With 25 years in this business, I can honestly tell you that you will end up being disappointed. If this is not your first time calling for help.
Like most computer repair services, Geek Squad also works under a deadline. They certainly can't afford to spend 6 hours fixing your computer. I spend as much time as needed until I fix the issues or determine they can't be fixed.
To my knowledge, Geek Squad sends most hardware repairs to a third party. You have no idea who is accessing and fixing your computer! And it could take weeks to get it back.

I know asking you to trust "a guy" called "That Tech Jeff" who's probably in a different state than you, to fix your computer remotely can be asking a lot. Getting computer help online can be scary if you don't know the person. However, just compare my reviews to theirs. You will see why people are able to trust me and no matter where you live I think you will be really happy compared to Geeks. I do this without stressing you out or trying to sell you anything. And I'm much lighter on the wallet. I believe it would be impossible for Geeks to provide the level of service that I can. Please Google "That Tech Jeff", read the reviews and try me out. It's painless.
